Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to making Verbatim usable by everyone.

We built Verbatim to give everyone access to communication coaching — and that commitment extends to how we build the product itself.

Our commitment

We are committed to ensuring that Verbatim is accessible to people with disabilities, consistent with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We continually review and improve the accessibility of our platform.

What we have implemented

  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements can be reached and operated using a keyboard alone
  • Skip to content — a "Skip to main content" link is provided at the top of every page for keyboard and screen reader users
  • Semantic HTML — we use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and ARIA attributes throughout the platform
  • Colour contrast — text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios
  • Focus indicators — visible focus styles are applied to all interactive elements
  • Motion sensitivity — animations throughout the platform respect prefers-reduced-motion settings
  • Alternative text — meaningful images include descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked as such
  • Screen reader support — we test with VoiceOver (macOS/iOS) and NVDA (Windows)
  • Responsive design — the platform is usable across devices and at up to 200% zoom

Known limitations

Verbatim includes real-time audio features (The Booth, live mic sessions). These features require audio input and output by their nature. Where possible, we provide text-based alternatives, including written transcripts and text feedback. We are actively working to improve accessibility for users who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

Complex data visualisations (session dashboards, sparklines) include text-based summaries in ARIA labels. We are working to make these more comprehensive.

We aim to support the following combinations:

  • VoiceOver + Safari (macOS, iOS)
  • NVDA + Chrome (Windows)
  • TalkBack + Chrome (Android)

Continuous improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a checkbox. We review our platform for accessibility issues as part of every significant release cycle and address issues as they are identified.
